Typical Bordeaux grape variety, Cabernet Franc likes gravelly, sandy-gravelly or limestone soils. These soils must collect enough heat for it to reach a good phenolic maturity. The Cabernet Franc ripens a little earlier than the Cabernet Sauvignon. Cabernet franc is a structured, fine and relatively low tannin grape variety. It has length on the finish.
Rarely used alone in Bordeaux, it is very interesting in blends. It is very cultivated in Libourne.
