Vine variety resulting from a very long process of successive selections carried out by men to refine its agronomic and taste qualities. The plants with very similar characteristics are grouped together under the same grape variety name. In general, each plot is planted with a single grape variety.
The main grape varieties present in Bordeaux are for the red: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. For the white: Sauvignon, Semillon and Muscadelle.
