The vineyard

Farming ancestors have been found for at least 6 generations on this family wine estate in Bordeaux.

From the beginning of the 20th century, the great-grandparents, then the grandparents of the current owner Régis Chaigne cultivated land and vineyards in Cantois on the one hand (paternal lineage) and Saint Laurent du Bois (maternal lineage).

Régine and Jean-Claude, Régis’s parents, specialized in vine growing from the beginning of the 1970s, selecting their terroirs, replanting the best plots with the red grape varieties of Bordeaux: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc.
They modernize the winemaking tool, carry out the first bottling of red and white Bordeaux in 1975, intended for a clientele of friends who develop by word of mouth.

Régis joined his parents in creating with them “Vignobles Chaigne et Fils” on January 1st 1992. He continued the development, acquired new plots of land, developed sales to professionals, modernized the winery and gradually built up a team: today, 8 people work on the estate.

Since the beginning of the 2000s, a new impetus has been given to export marketing (China, United States, Benin, Brazil, Ireland, Malaysia, United Kingdom…) which now represents 70% of our sales

In 2009, new plots of very high quality land completed our terroirs and a replanting program was implemented to increase planting densities. This was the opportunity to introduce the Malbec grape variety on our most beautiful clay-limestone terroirs.

In 2017, we celebrated the twentieth-fifth anniversary of Vignobles Chaigne et Fils !
